There's a moment most of us recognize. Something shifts your energy, your sleep, your body, your labs and you realize nobody ever actually prepared you for this. Not your doctor, not the wellness industry, not the stack of health books telling you to overhaul everything at once. You're left navigating one of the most important chapters of your life without a real roadmap.
Betty spent nearly three decades in clinical practice watching this happen first to her clients, then to herself. She ran one of New York City's longest-running weight loss programs, worked alongside psychologists and social workers, and watched the same people who thrived for years suddenly hit invisible walls as they aged. She spent a decade in the research figuring out why. Small Things, Real Change is her answer.
This is not a book of rules. There are no commandments here, no perfect protocols, no judgment if you miss a day. It's an education in plain language, backed by real science on what's actually happening in your body and what genuinely responds to what. The kind of information that makes you feel in control of your own health instead of at the mercy of it.
Betty is a registered dietitian nutritionist, researcher, and educator. She founded and directed a landmark New York City hospital-based program in metabolic health, co-led NIH-funded clinical trials, and contributed to peer-reviewed research. She has trained physicians and allied health professionals, served on advisory boards, lectured at major medical centers and national conferences, taught at the university level, and written for national health audiences.
